Snow day

Why My Crazy Neighbor Was Actually A Genius

January 07, 20251 min read

I just watched my neighbor do something that seemed absolutely insane.

It started snowing at 4am Sunday morning. We're expecting it to continue until noon today (Monday).

And there he was, at 11:15 Sunday morning...

Methodically shoveling his driveway.

"What a waste of time," I muttered to myself. "That path will be covered again in 20 minutes."

But when I looked out my window at 8am this morning...

I realized he was brilliant.

While my driveway (and everyone else's) is buried under 7 inches of heavy snow... his driveway only has a light dusting.

He'd been doing something I see smart email marketers doing right now...

Making small, consistent adjustments WHILE the storm is happening.

See, since mid-October, Google and the other email giants have been unleashing a blizzard of new filtering algorithms.

Each update making it harder for our marketing messages to reach the Primary inbox.

Like my still-snow-covered driveway proves, waiting until after the storm to take action just leaves you with a bigger mess to clean up.

Meanwhile, the "early shovelers" are seeing their emails sail right into the Primary tab.

Their open rates staying strong.

Their businesses humming along while others struggle.

The good news? It's not too late to start shoveling.

I've just released a new Open Rate Maximizer Checklist that shows you exactly how to adapt to these changes.

15 simple adjustments you can make today to keep your messages landing where they belong.
