Who gave this person an email account?
Some people shouldn't be allowed to have email accounts.
I'm serious.
They should make you pass an IQ test first. Maybe throw in a basic common sense evaluation while they're at it.
Because 9 days ago, some genius subscriber decided to mark 73 of my client's emails as spam.
Not one...
Not two...
73 emails!
All at once.
This same intellectual giant bought her book back in February. Had been opening and clicking links in her emails for months. Never once showed any signs of being unhappy with the content.
Then suddenly, this champion of critical thinking decided to search through his inbox, find every single email she ever sent, and with the click of a button, report them ALL as spam.
Because apparently finding the unsubscribe link was too mentally taxing for his delicate brain cells.
Now my client's CRM is threatening to nuke her entire account.
Making her jump through hoops to prove she's not a spammer.
All because ONE person couldn't figure out how to use an unsubscribe link.
You can do everything right. Send valuable content. Keep your list clean and follow every best practice known to man.
But at the end of the day, you're still dealing with humans.
And some humans make spectacularly stupid decisions that can wreck everything you've built.
So what can you do to protect yourself?
Review every automated email in your system and make your unsubscribe link impossible to miss. Like, visible-from-space impossible.
Larry Winget was right - the idiots walk among us.
And it only takes ONE to destroy everything you've worked for.
Don't let that happen to you.
P.S. Seriously though... 73 spam reports? Who raised this person?
