broken heart

The Night My Dad Broke My Heart

September 17, 20242 min read

It was a frigid December night in '83...

Snow falling quietly outside...

I was sitting in my dad's truck, clutching a crudely wrapped Christmas gift. An Avon picture frame that spelled "Dad". I was so excited to give it to him...

Instead of accepting it, he scolded me...

"It's not Christmas yet. You can't give presents before Christmas."

I knew I wouldn't see him again until after the holidays...

Heartbroken, I ran into the house, tears streaming down my face...

My mom consoled me, then called and gave him an earful...

After that night, my dad vanished from my life for 10 long years.

No calls. No visits. No birthday cards. Nothing...

Then, out of the blue, he reached out when I was about to graduate high school...

But things were... different...

The connection was gone...

The trust was shattered...

It's a wound that never truly healed...

{{contact.first_name}}, you might be wondering...

"What does this have to do with email marketing?"

Well, more than you'd think...

You see, when you stop emailing your subscribers regularly, you're essentially pulling a "disappearing dad" move. You build a relationship with them. They start to trust you. Look forward to hearing from you...

And then... silence...

Weeks go by...

Months...

Maybe even years...

And just like that night in '83, your subscribers feel abandoned...

Forgotten...

When you finally decide to reach out again...

It's too late...

The connection is gone...

They've moved on...

Or worse...

They report you as spam because they don't remember who you are...

Ouch...

That creates a whole host of problems for your emails landing in the inbox. Not to mention your reputation...

So, what's the solution?

Simple...

Be consistent...

Show up in their inbox regularly...

At least once a week...

Every week...

Build that relationship. Nurture it. Don't let them forget about you...

Because unlike my dad, you have the power to stay connected. To keep that relationship alive. To be there for your subscribers...

Consistently...

Reliably...

It's not just about selling...

It's about being present. Being valuable. Being memorable...

So, don't be the "disappearing dad" of email marketing...

Be the friend who always shows up. The one they can count on. The one they look forward to hearing from...

Every. Single. Week.

Your subscribers will thank you for it...

And your business will thrive because of it...

So, are you ready to commit to consistency?

To showing up in their inbox every week?

To nurturing those relationships?

If so, start planning your weekly emails now...

Your subscribers are waiting...

Don't leave them out in the cold...
