"Go Back To Bed" Wasn't An Option
These Indiana weather swings kicked my butt this weekend.
One minute it's spring, the next we're back in winter...
And my sinuses decided to wage full-scale war against my productivity.
There I was - throbbing face, pounding head, and a content creation deadline looming for a new checklist I'm releasing next week.
As a check-every-box-today kind of person, this was torture.
The to-do list kept staring at me, but my brain felt like mush.
Then something interesting happened...
Between naps and DayQuil doses, I noticed these brief windows where the fog would lift. Just 20-30 minutes at a time.
Instead of waiting to feel 100%, I pounced on these moments.
Write a section.
Rest.
Write another section.
Rest.
By Sunday night, not only was everything done - it was actually good work.
Who knew you could build something solid in such tiny chunks?
It reminded me of what so many of us face with getting our emails delivered and opened right now.
Some days it feels like we're making progress.
Other days, it's two steps back.
The rules keep changing, Google keeps throwing curveballs, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed.
But here's what I've learned...
Just like fighting through a nasty cold, the path forward isn't always linear.
Sometimes it's about catching those small windows of opportunity and making them count.
As Jeff Olson says in The Slight Edge - success comes from those consistent, simple disciplines we practice day after day. Not the giant leaps.
So if you're frustrated with the new world of email marketing (and who isn't these days?), don't wait for the perfect moment to make changes.
Take those small steps when you can.
The email landscape of 2025 will bring plenty of surprises.
But we'll navigate them together, one small victory at a time.
Stay tuned - next week I'm releasing something that will help make those victories a lot easier to achieve.
